01.15.2005 :: "Fat of the Land" -- Documentary Film about Biodiesel

Presented by The UW French Fry Fuel FOols (UW biodiesel club) and The Breathable Bus Coalition

"In the first kitchen-grease powered road movie FAT of the LAND follows the journey of five women who took to the highway in an ordinary '84 Chevy diesel van powered by used vegetable oil (actually they made biodiesel as they went). From New York to San Francisco the women careen across the nation stopping at greasy spoons, asking for leftover frying oil to fuel their wacky cross-country adventure.

Dr. Meschke is a Professor of Environmental Health in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine. He will cover the basics of the Clean Water Act, the regulatory pathway and discuss some example standards.

Come meet students from a wide variety of departments who share your interest in water! Snacks and drinks will be provided. All are welcome to attend our Friday biweekly seminars.

Lucia Athens, Chair of the Seattle Green Building Team, will start the tour with a brief introduction to the City's green building program and the role of the Green Team. She will then give a tour of City Hall and the Seattle Justice Center, pointing out the special features that made these building capable of LEED certification.

The Northwest Environmental Education Council is pleased to announce the
2nd Annual Northwest Sustainability Conference on Earth Day Weekend,
April 22, 23, and 24, 2005. Last year's conference was a huge success
with over 200 attendees and almost 50 speakers! This year's conference
will be a great opportunity to hear amazing speakers from all over the
Northwest, take action to protect the planet, and mingle with
like-minded individuals.
