Information about DAVE for CFR Mac Users

General

In order to access CFR Network Resources such as Files and Printers, Macintosh computers require the addition of the program Dave from Thursby Software.

Dave is available in Educational Packs of 5, 10 and 25 seats. There is a Demo available which can be used to verify that Dave will solve your connectivity problems, as well as solve them until you can arrange to purchase it. The University of Washington no longer maintains it's site licence for Dave, so licence's must be purchased through the College in accordance with it's Computing Policy and funded by a budget provided by the user.

The CFRIT supports the use of Dave 5 and Dave 6.

Dave Configuration Information

Set Dave to "Prefer DNS" - Dave may perform extreemly slowly on the CFR network. Here are instructions to tell it to stop looking for NetBIOS names and use DNS instead.

Dave Login Dosent Work - That's correct. Dave Login will not connect to the CFR Network, and it's not needed. We have instructions on accessing File resources and Print resources.
