Known Issues with Portal

  • Network Access (VPN_to_CFR)
    • Current Status:
      • Split Tunneling: Force all traffic except local subnet traffic through tunnel
      • H: Drive: Mapping Enabled ( \\file.cfr.washington.edu\users\%username%)
      • S: Drive: Mapping Enabled ( \\net.cfr.washington.edu\main)
    • Cannot access UW Mail System while connected to Portal
Currently firewall rules are only allowing HTTP/HTTPS traffic from Portal to reach the outside of the firewall. It will be necessary to get host information from UW C&C to write appropriate firewall rules to allow this traffic.
    • H: Drive
Not all users have an H: drive so starting VPN_to_CFR may hang for approximately 1 minute while attempting to map H:, then give an error message.
    • S: Drive
Computers that are not joined to the domain cannot connect to DFS Shares. Work around is to connect to \\DFS_Server\DFS_Share.
    • Re-Mapping Preexisting Drive Letters
When re-mapping preexisting drive letters, the Firepass prompts the user to disconnect the drive letter or use a different drive letter. Neither of these options work correctly.
3/10/2006 - (F5 Case Number C254380) This issue is targeted to be resolved in the next release of FirePass (Current is v5.5) .
    • Users without sufficient privilege cannot modify DNS (needed for split tunneling)
DNS is set to 10.1.10.57 on the VPN adapter, but not on any other adapters. Since the VPN adapters VPN is the last created, it's the last checked. This breaks name resolution.
    • Users without sufficient privilege cannot modify HOSTS (needed for split tunneling)
Firepass can modify hosts, but only if the user has administrative rights.
