The Forest Stump Series

The Case Of The Forest Graffiti

It was a cold, cloudy day at Pack Forest. There was a promise of rain in the forecast. Mason, Duane, and I were sitting around a fire in Pack Hall when Mason turned and said, ”You know each plant out there has a story….” I knew there must be thousands of plants and that meant there were thousands of stories, this is just one of them.

I was walking through a stand of young alder on a good trail that was not on any of our Pack Forest Trail maps. There it was right in front of me, a tree covered with graffiti. Instead of paint it looked like someone had scraped the bark off this little tree. I took this picture of it and showed it to Duane when I got back to the office.

Here’s the question.

What or who caused the damage to the tree bark?

If you need extra information I will answer any questions asked in the Yes/No format.

Duane suggests doing a Google search using “damaged bark”
