Current Events

  • 2012 CESU Network National Meeting, 12-14 June 2012 at Howard University Law School in Washington DC. Every two years, the CESU Network National Meeting brings together partners from across the country to share outstanding examples of science, stewardship, and education in the spirit of collaborative conservation. The program includes plenary sessions, discussion sessions, a poster reception, new member orientation, CESU Directors’ meeting, federal managers’ meeting, and external activities, with opportunities to exchange information with conservation leaders from across government, academia, and the nongovernmental conservation community. PNW CESU Announcements

  • Pacific Northwest CESU 2011 partners meeting. The Pacific Northwest CESU (PNW CESU) annual partners meeting was held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 on the University of Washington campus in Seattle. The meeting featured presentations on the Northwest Climate Science Center, North Cascadia Adaptation Partnership, and regional Landscape Conservation Cooperatives, in addition to a technical session with agency grants & assistance officers about how to use the PNW CESU.

  • NPS Pacific West Region steps for writing a CESU task agreement (revised 2012) is now available. Click for document (PDF)

  • Pacific Northwest CESU five-year review for renewal. The cooperative/joint venture agreement for each CESU has a term of five years from the effective date of execution. Each CESU agreement states that the activities of the CESU can be continued for another five-year period by mutual consent of the parties to the agreement (Article III B). The Pacific Northwest CESU submitted the self-assessment report for fiscal years 2005-2009 to the National CESU office and was renewed for another five-year term.   • Rocky Mountain Nature Association is offering a research fellowship for graduate students to work at Rocky Mountain NP.

  • Acadia Research Fellowship Grant Program has two research fellowship programs that are offered: the L.L. Bean Acadia Research Fellowship and the Schoodic Research Fellowship. Click here for more information.

Online Resources

  • Online herbarium. The newly redesigned web pages summarizing the National Park Service's botanical efforts in the Pacific Northwest are now available online. This website is the result of a cooperature project between the UW Burke Museum, North Cascades National Park, and Mount Rainier National Park.
  • Park Science newsletter now available online. "Park Science" is distributed by the Pacific Coast Science and Learning Center at Point Reyes National Seashore. The publication showcases creative and collaborative science, science education, research, and natural resource management supporting science-informed decision making within the National Park system and associated academic institutions and partners.   • Heritage News - a monthly e-newsletter published by the National Park Service to deliver timely information on topics including grant opportunities, new laws or policies, events, and activities of interest to the national heritage community.
