Key Research, Technical Assistance, and Education Strengths

  • Integrated approach to the study of natural resources and environmental issues.  The intellectual foundation of UV-SNR is based on the concept of integration across the natural and social sciences and the traditional natural resources fields of study.
  • Access to a broad range of expertise.  The UV-SNR is comprised of faculty, staff, and students that span the natural and social sciences as well as the traditional natural resources fields of study.
  • Special expertise in outdoor recreation and park management.  UV-SNR includes a Park Studies Laboratory staffed by faculty, research staff, and graduate students, and conducts an active national program of research with the U.S. National Park Service and related agencies.
  • Strong program of applied research.   UV-SNR conducts a program of applied research with a spectrum of state, regional, and national natural resources management agencies, administers several masters and doctoral level graduate programs, and enjoys the benefits of an especially strong pool of graduate applicants.
  • Strong network of collaborators.  Faculty in UV-SNR maintain strong collaborative relationships with professional colleagues at other academic institutions and professional agencies.
