Integrated approach to the study of natural resources and environmental issues. The intellectual foundation of UV-SNR is based on the concept of integration across the natural and social sciences and the traditional natural resources fields of study.
Access to a broad range of expertise. The UV-SNR is comprised of faculty, staff, and students that span the natural and social sciences as well as the traditional natural resources fields of study.
Special expertise in outdoor recreation and park management. UV-SNR includes a Park Studies Laboratory staffed by faculty, research staff, and graduate students, and conducts an active national program of research with the U.S. National Park Service and related agencies.
Strong program of applied research. UV-SNR conducts a program of applied research with a spectrum of state, regional, and national natural resources management agencies, administers several masters and doctoral level graduate programs, and enjoys the benefits of an especially strong pool of graduate applicants.
Strong network of collaborators. Faculty in UV-SNR maintain strong collaborative relationships with professional colleagues at other academic institutions and professional agencies.
