Treatment
Prescriptions and Implementation
By
design, all harvest and post-harvest prescriptions were applied
consistently among the treatment units within a block. Among
blocks, however, methods of harvest, slash treatment, and
planting details varied as a function of topography, physical
environment, and forest composition and structure. Details
on harvest procedures, treatment of down woody material, retention
and creation of snags, and reforestation can be found in :

Harvests
were completed in fall 1997 (3 blocks) and 1998 (3 blocks).
Among the eight blocks originally selected, harvest was not
implemented at two (Little River and Layng Creek).
Patterns
of ground disturbance and slash accumulation among harvest
treatments are summarized here. See also: Halpern, C.
