Data Management and Archiving

To ensure the quality and long-term availability of ecological information collected in the DEMO study, we have invested considerable resources and time in data management and documentation. Coordinated by Gody Spycher, data are managed at the Forest Science Data Bank (FSDB) at Oregon State University, which houses data from more than 200 ecological studies, including those of the H. J. Andrews Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) Program.

FSDB supports data collection, data entry, quality assurance and control, archiving, and cross-disciplinary access. Data are subjected to double-entry, verification, and quality assurance procedures that include both generic validation and rules specific to particular data types and study designs. In addition to ecological data, FSDB maintains a large collection of pre- and post-treatment photographs of the experimental treatments.
