Of the eight proposed nitrogen carry-over sites, seven have been harvested and foliage collected (Installations 17 Little Ohop Creek, 53 Camp Grisdale, 134 Pack Forest, 156 Coyle, 167 Hank’s Lake, 168 Simpson Log yard, and 177 Overlook). Sites 17, 134, and 177 will have all lab work completed, and have initial characterization done by December 1999. Sites 156, 167, and 168 will have soil and vegetation samples collected and analyzed this fall for characterization. Camp Grisdale installation 53 will be characterized spring 2000 after understory growth begins. Installation 179, Maytown has not been harvested, but will be sampled in 2000 post-harvest. Nutrition Project

The Nutrition Management for Enhanced Productivity of Douglas-fir Stands Project is a collaborative project with the aim of providing a web-based productivity management “toolbox” of guidance and nutrient management models for Douglas-fir in the Pacific Northwest. A project team meeting was held in July at the University of Minnesota’s Natural Resources Institute in Duluth, MN. Progress updates were provided by each project team member and several working sessions were held for carrying out the mechanics of linking the various nutrient management models.
