Jeff Hepinstall is a
Faculty Research Assistant (Post-doc) in the Urban Ecology program through
the College of Forest Resources and the Department of Urban Design and
Planning at the University of Washington. He teaches courses in Urban
Ecology, Applications of GIS and Remote Sensing in Urban Ecology and Natural
Resources, Wildlife Habitat Analysis. His research interests include modeling
land cover change and predicting land cover and land use change into the
future in the Puget Sound region, modeling wildlife species habitat, and
understanding how humans and wildlife can coexist in habitats that are
highly modified by human activities. He is working with Dr. Alberti to
develop a simulation model that integrates urban development and ecological
dynamics to predict the impact of urban growth on biodiversity.
