IGERT STUDENT SURVEY

Cohort B (entered in 2002)

YEAR 2 Survey (2003-04)

We would like to assess the choices and expectations of incoming IGERT doctoral students in Urban Ecology. We would like you to fill out an online survey at this time. We would also like you to fill out a similar survey each year of your doctoral program. You will not directly benefit from taking part in this study, however, we expect this research will contribute to the ongoing improvement of the IGERT program.

The online survey which contains both multiple choice and open-ended questions will take approximately 55 minutes to complete. Questions are divided into 4 categories: your career and program choices, your doctoral program expectations including financial support, your doctoral program experiences to date, and demographic information such as your marital status and parentsí professions.

Your responses are confidential. The Catalyst WebQ program will code your responses.  Only the research team will have access to the master list of codes and identifiers. We will destroy the link between your identity and the codes in 2007, one year after completion of the research study. If we publish the results of this study, we will not use your name.

Taking part in this research is voluntary. You are free to withdraw from the study at anytime and do not have to answer every question.

When you have completed the survey, the research team would like to invite you to be interviewed for about 30 minutes. The interview is voluntary.

If you would like to know more about this study or the online survey, please contact Dr. Maresi Nerad at mnerad@u.washington.edu or 206-221-3429.
