Michael's Fiduciary Report:
$364 total in account, now at Bank of America (with our fancy new check book)
less (90), allocated for new memberships-only
TOTAL = $274
Plus, additional $200 allocated by the Dean for field trips.
If by the end of the quarter we can't find new students for supporting new
memberships, we will reevaluate how to use the scholarship money. Michael
will talk with the donors to make sure this is O.K.
SAF 2003 National Convention/ Buffalo NY/ Travel Money
$500/student allocations (from the Dean) available for SAF students to travel
to the National SAF convention in Buffalo, NY this fall. Must be an active
student when applying for the money.
Other money may be available for students who will present research in form
of a poster or talk at the convention. Minority scholarships may also be available-ARA
to look into further details.
John would like to finalize who will attend the national meeting by the middle
of spring quarter (so to alleviate early fall quarter chaos, and last minute
planning)
Interested students include: Paul Lachance, Michael Andreu, Morris Johnson,
Ara (if here) and Andrew Hill
Fundraising Idea
T-shirt or bumper stickers with a catchy forestry slogan. John, Ara, Jason
and Andrew Hill will further pursue the feasibility of this.
Could imply large cash investment; or possible low returns.
State Board of Natural Resources
National SAF sent a position statement to the WA state board. John has copies.
The next meeting will likely be in early March. We will await the meeting
schedule to be posted and decide just prior to the meeting if we will mobilize
as a group and attend the meeting.
Michael Andreu will no longer contact a board member; Derek will replace Michael.
