Education and Classes at UW Botanic Gardens

The UW Botanic Gardens offers a variety of education programs for everyone, drawing on research and technical expertise from the UW and beyond to include lectures, courses, demonstrations, symposia, and tours. We also involve youth and families in plant education and conservation through specialized on-site tours, school programs, parent and child classes, and summer camp.

Customer Service

For help with public classes and continuing education, contact urbhort@uw.edu. If calling, the number for school field trips is 206-543-8801. For all other programs, including parent and child classes, camps, public and professional classes, call 206-685-8033. Refund Policies

Public and Professional Classes Refund Policy

Refund requests must be submitted in writing and postmarked, faxed, or e-mailed two weeks prior to the class date. E-mail requests will receive an e-mail confirmation within two business days. If you do not receive an e-mail confirmation, please call 206-685-8033 to inquire about the status of your request. Cancellations more than one week prior to a class are subject to a 15 percent processing charge (minimum $10). Cancellations with less than one week’s notice are non-refundable. If a program is cancelled by UW Botanic Gardens for any reason, a full refund will be made to all enrollees. Refunds may take four weeks to process.

Summer Camp Refund Policy

Summer Camp participants are subject to the following policies: For cancellation at least 14 days prior to camp, a full refund minus a processing fee of $40 per cancelled camp program and $10 per cancelled extended camp program will be provided. For cancellation less than two weeks prior to camp, or non-completion of camp, no refund will be provided.

Late Pick-Up Policy

If you are more than 10 minutes late to pick up your child at the end of camp (after 3pm) then we will enroll your child in aftercare until you arrive. The cost for one day of after care is $16 and you can pay by cash, check or credit card upon pick up.

After Care Late Fees

If you are late to pick up your child from aftercare we will charge you $1 for every minute after 5pm. Starting at 5:15pm the rate jumps to $3/minute. You can pay by cash, check or credit card upon pick up.

Parent and Child Class participants are subject to the following policies: For cancellations contact UW Botanic Gardens Education at uwbgeduc@uw.edu or 206-685-8033 48 hours in advance of your class to be eligible for a makeup class. Participants who do not cancel 48 hours in advance or do not attend the class will not be eligible for a makeup class.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel by contacting us at uwbgeduc@uw.edu or (206) 685-8033 48 hours in advance of your class you are eligible for a refund minus a 15% (minimum $10) processing fee. You are not eligible for a refund if you cancel less than 48 hours in advance or do not attend the class.

The University of Washington Botanic Gardens is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy notifies you of information collected through this site, how such information is used, and the security policies that are in place to protect the loss or misuse of information under our control. Our registration forms require users to provide contact information that may include name, e-mail address, mailing address, and other information. We do not request or store sensitive information from our visitors, such as social security numbers. Our credit card transactions are processed by a bank website, and we do not collect credit card numbers. All information provided on forms is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. We also protect information by placing it on a secure portion of our site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of the University of Washington. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.
